What is a Cell Group?

A cell in the body is the basic building block on which the whole body works. There are many types of cells. But when put together they make up the whole body. St. Paul once spoke of the church as the "Body of Christ", Jesus is the head and we are the parts that make it into a living functioning unit. When the church is healthy, like a cell, it is growing, working and multiplying.
At New Wine Mission we believe the best place to live out our life in Christ is through "Cell Groups" or House Churches. Each gathering of members and their friends is viewed as a mini-church. In small groups of 3 to 15 people we meet regularly to do the whole work of the church. In these cells we work on building healthy loving relationships. We care about each other in good times and bad. We study the Bible and Christian books so to better know the ways of Christ. We pray and help each other in times of need and we look for ways to serve our community and spread the good news of Jesus.
We do not have our own building because we want the church to spread out over our community in "Cell Groups" that meet in homes or other public spaces. Each cell has a leadership team and leaders in training to prepared to start new cells. Our groups then gather on Sunday in a rented community room for a weekly celebration. Part of our celebration is hearing about what the Lord is doing in each of the cell groups.
